I have the code for my w890i but the button sequence does nothing. Presumably because ‘insert SIM’ is displayed? Have tried every key that could be considered as left arrow but nothing happens. Any suggestions specific to this handset please?

I was following the instructions which start with:

I read on another site and my provider told me to insert any other sim card not from the same network but didn’t explain why. Tried it with a foreign one which let me get to enter the code but it didn’t work.
Do you know why not to have SIM or why not same network?
